26. Field Attack
During several storytelling sessions, my mind was foggy, my condition was poor, and my logic wasn't very clear. A good friend of mine in Thailand went to record a video with me. When we talked about the unity of emptiness and form, for about four or five minutes, he had absolutely no memory of it; he was stunned and couldn't speak. This is called field suppression, a type of attack from the Dharma realm. There are many kinds of attacks from the Dharma realm; we were actually subjected to field suppression or a certain type of attack. Later, it became very difficult for my friend to get out of bed—it wasn't that something was pressing down on him, but he just had no energy, felt weak all over, and his mind was foggy. This is because his soul was attacked. In 2018, I took on a job to repay karmic debts at Baiyun Temple, burning paper money by the roadside. The next day after repaying the debt, I felt groggy and couldn't get up. My soul was attacked; I felt groggy every day, my mind was completely blank, I couldn't think clearly, and I was completely out of sorts. I felt very tired and fatigued, always wanting to sleep and constantly feeling sleepy—not physical fatigue, but fatigue of the soul. This falls under the category of field attacks within the Dharma realm. For example, if many people gain enlightenment after I finish telling a story, the gray or dark matter energies that prevent you from gaining enlightenment will definitely feel very uncomfortable and will attack you.
27. Seeking Good Fortune and Avoiding Misfortune
The nature of many beings is to seek good fortune and avoid misfortune. Theoretically, all the choices we make are aimed at achieving better outcomes in the future. Very few people knowingly choose a wrong path or one that will cause significant harm. All your choices are made in the hope of a better future—starting a business, getting married, having children, spiritual practice—all of these are based on this. However, for many people, the outcome is not necessarily correct or good. Why? First, their understanding is flawed. Second, even if their understanding is correct, their actions and abilities are problematic.
28. Cognitive Resistance
Cognitive resistance is: Why should I believe something I haven't seen? It's very difficult for theists to get atheists to believe in these things. When can they believe in ghosts and spirits? After they die and become ghosts themselves, seeing so many ghosts, they'll believe. When I communicate with others, my favorite method isn't to force my own understanding on them, but to tell stories, let them experience, let them feel for themselves, let them see for themselves. If they really can't see it, I let them feel it—this is the experiential practice I've always strongly advocated. Everything you say needs to be proven; things that can't be touched or seen need to be felt. When what you say can be seen, felt, proven, and applied, your understanding and their understanding are synchronized.
29. Disfigurement
Why break through appearances? Because what hinders all sentient beings from cultivating their spiritual path is that the Heavenly Dao currently does not allow you to see the true world. If you understand more about the true world, you will become a steadfast practitioner. What appearances are being broken through? It's about making you clearly aware that our world is illusory, and that there are things above this world that influence, control, and constrain us. When you know these things, your worldview will improve. The most important point about breaking through appearances is that you need to have enough experience, to have the opportunity to experience things that are difficult to explain scientifically. You need to go through several stages: the first stage is complete disbelief, the second stage is skepticism—you need to go through these stages to gradually believe.
30. The Guiding Force of Heaven
Before attaining enlightenment, the Buddha enjoyed studying the concept of cause and effect. He would feel deeply for others' sorrows and have a strong connection to such matters—this is a kind of unseen guidance. This is what is meant by divine guidance or a feeling from past lives. Before you truly awaken to this kind of memory, you have a feeling: you just feel that this path should be right, but you don't know why. Even if this path causes you great pain and you have to experience tens of thousands of failures alone, you are still willing to walk this path—this is called divine guidance or the guidance of the celestial soul. No one specifically tells you that you must walk this path or what will happen, but you just know that this is the right path—it's a very magical feeling. In fact, you must have heard something similar in countless lifetimes of reincarnation, but you forgot it after drinking the Meng Po soup. The human soul forgets, but that doesn't mean the celestial soul forgets.
31. What is the spirit? What is the law?
Spirit is inspiration, intuition; it's what connects us to heaven and earth, to the future, and to the past. Spirit is used for divination. Some people have strong spirit but weak magic; ordinary fortune tellers have strong spirit. Magic is for changing things. Some people are very powerful and can use magic to change things—some for good, some for bad. But if you ask them to divine the future, they can't. If you have both spirit and magic, it's like you're using higher-dimensional power. You'll have a stronger belief that this world is multidimensional, not just the three-dimensional world we see now, and it's much easier to establish faith. The most important thing in spiritual practice is establishing faith, believing in the whole system—there are many worlds beyond ours, and you need to understand these rules; otherwise, you can't practice.
